Smart Agricultural Libraries in India

Abstract


This paper attempts to highlight the initiatives taken to transform the agricultural libraries into smart agricultural libraries in India. Advances in information communication technology disclosed a new opportunity for innovation in agricultural libraries. Most of the libraries have mechanized their services to extent of developing in house databases, web based OPACs though use of digitization and smart projects runs by ICAR. The ICAR through various funding support viz., ICAR Development Grant and World Bank funded projects support the modernisation of agricultural libraries in India that is why many of the agricultural libraries in this country are able to meet the increasing user demands in the networked digital environment.
